Elder Abuse
Types of Abuse:
Physical - Inflicting physical pain or
injury.
Emotional - Verbal assults, threats of abuse, harassment,
or intimidation.
Confinement - Restraining or isolating someone
for reasons other than medical necessity.
Passive Neglect - The
caregiver's failure to provide an older adult with life necessities including,
but not limited to, food, clothing, shelter, or medical care, caused by failure
to understand the older persons needs.
Willful Deprivation -
Willfully denying an older adult who requires medication, medical care,
shelter, food, therapeutic devices, or other assistance, thereby exposing that
person to risk of physical, mental, or emotional harm.
Financial
Exploitation - The misuse or with-holding of an older adult's resources by
another.
Sexual - Touching, fondling, or any other sexual
activity with an older adult when that person is unable to understand, unwilling
to consent, is threatened, or is physically forced.
Eligibility Criteria:
1.The alleged victim is age 60 or older.
2.The
alleged victim must reside in the community and not in a long term facility.
3.The alleged victim cannot be the alleged abuser(self neglect).
4.There
must be an allegation of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
